Dekkers L. Davidson Joins Fidelity Ventures as Venture Partner

June 29, 2005

Fidelity Ventures, a leading provider of go-to-market capitalSM to visionary entrepreneurs in the information technology and communications sectors, today announced Dekkers L. Davidson has joined the firm as a venture partner.

Davidson brings more than 25 years of proven experience in the telecom and wireless industries to this new position. As a venture partner, he works closely with Fidelity Ventures’ team to evaluate and initiate new investment opportunities in the communications sector. Davidson also plays an active role in helping the firm’s portfolio companies establish and evolve their strategic business and marketing plans.

“Dekkers brings to the firm a successful track record of venture investing, proven senior operating experience in the telecom and wireless sectors and a passion for entrepreneurialism,” said Dave Power, partner, Fidelity Ventures. “We look forward to working with him as he explores his next opportunity.”

Prior to joining Fidelity Ventures, Davidson held a variety of senior management positions, including Chief Executive Officer at Cetacean Networks, where he helped negotiate the sale to Avaya Networks. He was President of Rogers Wireless (Canada’s largest cellular phone business), responsible for all business and financial operations in the province of Ontario, Canada.

Davidson established Sprint’s wireless business in the New England region as the company’s first Area Vice President; in that capacity, he played a critical role in the network build-out and launch of the company’s business operations – becoming the first new wireless PCS entrant in the market. He co-founded the wireless consulting practice at Mercer Management Consulting and has consulted to a broad number of wire line and wireless businesses. Davidson has been a Visiting Instructor at Harvard Business School and served as the domestic telecommunications advisor to the Assistant Secretary of Commerce during the Reagan Administration.

Davidson received a B.A. in government from St. Lawrence University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He serves as a trustee at St. Lawrence University.

The appointment of Davidson follows several key developments in Fidelity Ventures’ business over the past six months including the closing of Fidelity Ventures IV, L.P., a $250 million venture fund, and the appointments of Thomas Burkardt as venture partner, Larry Cheng as principal, and Frank Panaccio and Jonathan Tower as associates.

Fidelity Ventures also has recently closed financing on several early-stage companies, including Waltham, Mass.-based Black Duck, Denver-based Ping Identity, Cork, Ireland-based Qumas and Redwood City, Calif.-based SpikeSource.
