The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”

– Winston Churchill

Andy's Bio

As Managing Partner and COO, Andy focuses on operations, fund management, finance, and legal/compliance. Andy managed the spinout of Volition from Fidelity in 2010.

Prior to the Volition spinout, Andy was the CFO of Fidelity Ventures for 10 years, focused primarily on finance and investment support. Previously, he was the VP Finance at Thomas H. Lee Partners. Andy began his career in auditing and consulting at Coopers & Lybrand.

Andy earned a Master’s Degree in Finance from Boston College and a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Fun Facts about Andy

  • Andy is a huge history buff and an avid reader of non-fiction. He loves to learn about the causes and pressures that influenced major historical trends. He also enjoys learning about the people who influenced the direction of history, as well as those who had to face often horrifying decisions and challenges as they found themselves in the middle of historical events (he’s always willing to talk about his favorite books – just ask!)
  • He’s always been a big sports fan, particularly of the NE Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. In fact, one of the primary reasons for Andy moving to Boston was the sports. (Fun fact – he’s witnessed TWO baseball no-hitters in person).
  • Andy loves nature and being outdoors, including boating, hiking, skiing, and kayaking.
  • His wife was born in Cuba and is writing a book about her family’s experiences living during the Cuban Revolution, immigrating to the US, and then assimilating into American culture.

As the person behind the scenes, I am actively involved in every investment we make here at Volition. I have the privilege of seeing the big picture. Each partner has their own style, but as a firm, we do what we say we do – and that’s unique in this industry.
