Meet Steve Shaffer
Joining Volition Capital in 2023, Steve brings over 20 years of operating experience in venture-backed technology businesses. He served in various executive roles (CFO, COO, CRO, CEO) in three fast-growing SaaS companies: Jobs2web (sold to SuccessFactors/SAP in 2011); Insite Software (sold to Episerver/Optimizely in 2019); and TradeCentric (recapped with Susquehanna Growth Equity in 2021).
Steve’s early entrepreneurial adventures included selling the MicroFridge, starting a pallet business on the west side of Chicago, restructuring Uganda Telecom’s international business, and helping launch a medical device coatings business.
Steve received a BA from Wheaton College (Philosophy & History) and an MBA from the University of Illinois – Chicago (Strategic Management and Accounting) and has passed the CPA exam.
Fun Facts About Steve
- Steve is a Minneapolis guy who enjoyed living fifteen years in Chicago (including six Bulls championships) but will always be a Minnesota fan at heart.
- He loves to golf in the summer and sauna in the winter.
- His wife, Elizabeth, is passionate about Minneapolis’ wonderful park system and serves as a Minneapolis Park Board Commissioner.
- They are blessed with four wonderful children enjoying their own career journeys in technology, banking, and private equity.
