Mary Kate's Story
Mary Kate grew up in Winchester, MA, the third oldest of eleven children. She attended high school in Boston, MA, where she was a member of the first graduating class of St. Joseph Preparatory High School. During high school, she explored the intersection of science and business through an internship with Pfizer Nutritionals in Ireland. There she began developing her interest in business and all things international, which led her to pursue a finance degree at the University of Notre Dame.
Mary Kate became involved in the Notre Dame community as President of Spanish Club, which also led her to become the Chair of the Cultural Division of the Club Coordination Council, representing cultural clubs while allocating the University’s funds for undergraduate clubs. In this capacity, she developed a passion for working with people to accomplish their goals.
During her summers, Mary Kate took time to explore the world and the world of finance. She worked with a women’s microfinance organization in Peru, where she saw what it means to empower small business owners. She also interned for Breckinridge Capital Advisors in Boston, a fixed income firm in which she learned the value of long-term thinking. Her last internship was with Volition Capital, where she was able to combine her interests.
Mary Kate graduated from Notre Dame in January 2017, when she spent three months as an au pair in Toledo, Spain. She spent her time practicing Spanish, teaching English, and traveling around Europe. She joined the team in May 2017.
Outside of Volition, Mary Kate can be found running, shopping, or eating Mexican food.
